Stargazers Wait for Dark – Staunton River State Park

Virginians are fortunate to live in a state which is home to so much natural beauty.  This painting was inspired by an article I read on “dark-sky state parks.”  Those are parks which have achieved certification of, among other things, spactacular views of the night sky.  One of those dark-sky parks is Staunton RIver State Park in Halifax County, Virginia which is the subject of this painting of stargazers who have gathered at the park with their binoculars to see the celestia; display once it becomes full-dark.  From the look of the sky in the picture, it will not be a long wait.    TO
